Review:

While I enjoyed the first instalment of the series, it didn’t fully convince me. The writing style didn’t fully resonate with me, and I also didn’t fully connect with all the characters. It left me curious enough to want to know how the story continued. Having finished the second book now, I enjoyed it so much more.

The beginning gave us an overview of where we are today, while also providing some background about the events leading up to this point. It ended with an interesting twist that had me eager to learn what it meant.

And this is when the story really begins, with Sashki waking up in a stranger’s body hundreds of years in the future. What an interesting plot twist. Not only is she alone, but she must find out what happened, how to return to her own timeline, and play along while she searches for a solution. When she runs into Claude, he promises to help her while asking for something in return. The amount of time they spend together adds a lot of tension between the two of them.

I enjoyed the aspect of Sashki having to adapt to different circumstances and learning that, while a lot has changed in more modern times, some things remain the same, especially the role of women in society. Her attempts to appreciate certain aspects while hating others came across very well to me. Her chemistry with Claude was convincing, and there were moments when I wanted her to stay in the future.

What I appreciated was that the aspect of her taking over someone else’s body, and what that would mean once she leaves, wasn’t simply glossed over. Even a simple acknowledgement of the issue was absolutely fine for me. I enjoyed coming along for the ride and am looking forward to the next one.
