Synopsis:

Review:

After the cliffhanger of book one, we started out with everyone trying to get away. Wren had to momentarily put her trust in Gabriel to get them out of there. After how he had treated her before, Wren had to take a gamble and hope that what she had felt initially would not betray her.
The first book had us spending a lot of time on the run, which we did again here. Gabriel was trying to ensure Wren was safe from the king, and after learning what was actually happening to those he hunted, everything changed for him. Protecting her was his way of making up for past mistakes, and I enjoyed seeing him become the person he was always meant to be. His connection with Wren only grew stronger in the process.
Did some parts feel a tiny bit slow to me? Yes, but only slightly.
The stakes were definitely raised, and it became clear very quickly that they couldn’t hide forever. I was constantly waiting for something to happen, and when it finally did, it left me devastated and eager for the next book.
