Synopsis:

I race to the nursery gates to pick up my baby daughter. I’m ten minutes late because I’ve been stuck at work.

The receptionist seems puzzled. ‘I think there’s been some confusion. Your daughter was picked up hours ago.’

‘By my childminder?’ I ask.

‘Uh . . . no, Ms Banks. By you.’

My whole world seems to collapse in an instant.

They show me the CCTV. The woman collecting my daughter looks just like me.

Except she’s not.

My worst nightmare has just begun. Someone stole my baby.

Review:

We meet a new mother who is struggling with the challenges of having a newborn at home while also dealing with the demands of her job and trying to prove that she can do it all, only to feel like she’s failing horribly at it (at least in her own eyes). Seeing her struggle with everything felt relatable and came across very well on the page.
When she has to pick up her daughter one day, she is told that someone has already collected her. And that person was her. But how is that possible?
No one believes her, and in her attempt to find out what really happened, she must confront her past.

After having read quite a few books by this author by now, I know what to expect, and this one did not disappoint. Is it as strong as some of her previous books? No, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was a fast-paced and easy read that had me glued to the pages, wanting to find out what was going on.
