Synopsis:
When the fae princess needs protecting, there is only one man for the job.
Freija has spent her life shaping herself into the perfect Fjell Fae heir—disciplined, dutiful, and ready to defend her mountain realm. But when a hidden threat rises, the king assigns her a new bodyguard. That’s when her flawless façade begins to crack.
Halvar is a weapon carved from war—stoic, ruthless, and drenched in a blood-soaked past. The general is everything she has been taught to avoid… and the only person she cannot resist. With every lingering glance, every tense training session, the line between princess and guard blurs.
But death lurks in the mountain’s tunnels, and the pressure to secure the royal line rises. When Freija is forced to make an appropriate marriage, she faces an impossible choice: follow her dreams, including the man she is falling for, or be the perfect crown princess.
What will prevail? Duty or desire?
The Fae Guardian is a standalone fantasy romance set in the Nordic Fae world. With sizzling chemistry, elemental magic, slow burn tension, and an mmc that would burn the world down for her.

Review:
When you have a princess who has strong opinions and is far more intelligent than people give her credit for, paired with a guard who is none too pleased about being assigned to protect her, and when both are explicitly told that they must not form a certain kind of connection – it becomes fairly clear where things are heading. Still, it was a real pleasure to watch these two characters interact and gradually work through their initial distrust. Once they recognised the advantages of working together, the banter became genuinely enjoyable, with both of them cleverly playing to each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
The worldbuilding was well done and easy to follow. I especially appreciated how the story explored the consequences of a growing human population and the resulting strain on resources, as well as Freija’s efforts to find a sustainable, long-term solution.
Overall, this was a book I couldn’t put down and that kept me thoroughly entertained throughout. I liked how it struck a careful balance between moving the plot forward and keeping the romance present without letting it take over the story. The fact that it’s a standalone only added to its appeal – especially at a time when so many books are part of long series. Sometimes you just want to pick up a book, enjoy yourself, and feel satisfied at the end. If that sounds like you, this one is definitely worth a try.
