Synopsis:
Theadora Moore has finally found her place within the Athenian Court.
With her would-be assassin now imprisoned in the palace dungeon, the kingdom awaits her next steps—completing her trials, ascending to the Royal Council, and forging a powerful alliance through marriage. Yet, despite her willingness to embrace these new responsibilities, she is haunted by dark secrets.
Thea can’t stop dreaming of the Underworld, and she’s desperate to figure out what her ancestor, the God of the Dead, wants from her. Until she understands, she can’t trust anyone with the truth, not even Crown Prince Clayton Vail. As her secret meetings with Hyrax continue, they threaten everything she cares about, including her growing relationship with Clay, who is determined to uncover what she’s hiding—even if it risks tearing them apart.
When the legendary Sword of Zion is stolen from it’s archives, Thea must seek help from an unlikely ally and realizes that secrets have a way of surfacing and prophecies cannot be ignored. To protect the Mortal Realm and keep her friends safe, she must finally accept who she is and the destiny she was born to fulfill—before it’s too late.

Review:
I really liked that the book starts with a detailed recap of the previous story. A “previously on” section helps remind readers what happened before and makes it much easier to get back into the story. For me, this really improved the reading experience, so big thumbs up for that.
The story continues right where the last book ended. Just when things start to calm down, Theodora looks forward to finally taking her place at court. She has to prove herself by competing in trials and showing everyone that she is strong and capable.
However, what happened before still affects her deeply. Being pushed into a marriage only makes things harder, especially as her feelings for Clay grow stronger. One of my favourite parts was how honest Clay is about his feelings and how he would give up everything to be with her.
Because of that, it felt hurtful when Theodora kept things from him – especially her nightmares and what she learned from them. I understand that she is scared of what the truth might mean for her, but hiding it only made the situation worse and felt like a betrayal.
I really enjoyed this book, especially the romance. It became much stronger, more intense, and even a bit hotter, which I did not mind at all. Theodora’s journey of discovering who she truly is was also an important and rewarding part of the story. The ending left me excited and eager to read the next book.
