Synopsis:

Her perfect family will be mine…

Every day I walk up the driveway to this gorgeous house and through the window I see the picture-perfect family: a husband and wife playing with their two adorable children. They think I’m just the delivery driver – a woman who is only here to drop the expensive packages that Sadie Hunt orders. They have no idea who I really am…

Sadie pretends to be the perfect wife and mother, but the truth is that her life is spiralling out of control. I notice the cold stares she gives her husband and the way he always tries to make her smile. I know that Sadie doesn’t deserve this dream house or her little son and daughter. And she certainly doesn’t deserve smart, handsome Reid who provides everything for their family.

So when Reid opens the bright yellow door, I smile widely at him. Our exchanges are short, but I’m certain he must understand how I feel about him. And today I’m sure his gaze lingers on me a little longer than usual. I’m determined that it will only be a matter of time before I’m the new Mrs Hunt.

Because Sadie must know she always had it coming. And I will do whatever it takes for this family to be mine…

Review:

It starts off seemingly harmless, with a delivery driver dropping off a package. Before long, it becomes clear that she has had a different mission in mind for quite some time, and that she’s relentlessly determined to see it through.

Putting yourself in someone else’s position is one thing; taking concrete steps to fully assume that person’s role is something else entirely. It quickly becomes obvious that this isn’t her first attempt. She has learned from past mistakes and moves with intention, armed with a careful, and dangerous plan. She won’t stop until she reaches her goal.

The pieces fall into place fairly smoothly, and I found myself questioning certain moments here and there. But the more I learned about the preparation happening behind the scenes, and the perfectly aligned timing and circumstances, the clearer it became why events unfolded the way they did. Did I occasionally have to suspend disbelief, since not everything would be that easy to pull off in real life? Yes. Either that, or I’m just not nearly as good at planning scenarios like this 🙂

Overall, it was a fast-paced, easy read that kept me entertained from start to finish. Exactly the kind of story I enjoy.
