Review:

You had me at vampire romance 🙂 Add to that the feeling of Beauty and the Beast (conceptually) retelling, and you had me even more interested. After finishing it in one sitting, I felt very entertained. Was it perfect in every aspect? No. Some of the uneven pacing could have been trimmed a little page-wise, but all in all, I liked what I read.

Clara was a character with a lot of potential, and those around her never gave her the chance to shine. When her mother’s death was linked to a vampire during her youth, it wasn’t the best start to a relationship when she was forced to marry him years later. It turns out that what she was made to believe and what was actually happening while she was growing up did not fully align, and she had to choose her own future.
Clara’s character growth was what I enjoyed the most. Being given the chance to become more than just a woman destined for marriage and instead her own person was something I was very much here to see.

Overall, it gave me exactly what I was hoping for, and the slow build of the romance was something that came across very well. It’s not overly complex and is easy to follow. Perfect for a cosy afternoon on my sofa.
