Synopsis:

Aideen’s entire life has been plagued with death. When another one of Aideen’s friends, Emily, goes missing, nothing will stop her from getting Emily back. After unearthing secret clues, Aideen not only finds a club filled with strangers possessing impossible abilities, but discovers she’s one of them. With her reality shattered, Aideen must choose between accepting her lineage in the midst of a violent power struggle, and saving Emily.

Review:

When Aideen was young she lost her mother, and her father left her feeling alone.
Aideen and her group of friends lost one of their own in the past, and it still leaves a mark. When Aideen’s best friend, Emily, does not respond to calls after leaving one evening, everyone immediately becomes very concerned, and Aideen is eager to find out what happened.
When Aideen was young she lost her mother, and her father left her feeling alone. Her search for her missing friend not only leads her to learn more about her past, but also confronts her with things she was not prepared for.

Aideen was a character I instantly liked, and her desire for a new beginning, even if it meant leaving her friends behind, was something I could understand. The group of friends, their banter, and the strong connection they shared came across very well.
Going on this journey with Aideen as she learns about her past and discovers her powers made the story entertaining to follow.

It was a fun read for me that has a lot going on but is not too complex overall.
