Review:
This one gave me Dexter vibes, combined with an intense romance story and a lot of different things sprinkled in for fun. It’s like someone took a list of all the dark and twisty things I usually enjoy and turned them into a book. What I got in the end was not what I expected it to be.
We have two vigilantes taking out bad guys that the justice system failed to hold accountable. They’ve been doing it for quite a while and each has their own unique way of going about it. Their day jobs are a huge contrast to their nighttime activities, for sure. Running into each other was definitely not on the menu, and it made for some interesting altercations. Deciding who gets the final kill by betting on who can make the other enjoy something first is certainly a unique way of taking a gamble. It also created an interesting path for them to grow closer to each other.
What they do not know is that, unbeknownst to both of them, they have been part of each other’s lives for quite some time and are connected in a way no one expected. Especially not me. Once they got to know each other better, it made for a very interesting dynamic.
Some books just hit differently. I don’t think anyone could have prepared me for how much I would enjoy this one. I even surprised myself with how addicted I was and how determined I became to finish it in one go. Dark romance is a genre I had accepted just wasn’t for me, but if they were all like this, I would be so on board. This book gave me so many vibes that resonated with me that it left me speechless at times, and I am so glad there is more to come. And can we appreciate that take on the title? It’s the small things that make this one so special 🙂
