Synopsis:

Review:

I have to be very honest here: the cover is so gorgeous that I was immediately drawn to it, and I am happy to report that it did not disappoint.

We have faes and mortals with magic, both separated by a ward that is losing its power. No one knows why, but the implications affect everyone. Emelin wants to help (which is usually the role of the men in the royal family), and with options running out, her father gives her the chance. There is only one problem: she does not know how to access her magic.

Cue the handsome lord helping her unlock her powers again. 🙂

I really liked the writing and how easy it was to follow along. The world-building was done well and added enough complexity to keep me guessing, while never becoming overwhelming. I also had a suspicion that what we were told was not necessarily what had actually happened. The chemistry between Emelin and Adrian was one of the highlights for me, especially when I learned that there was much more to him than initially met the eye.

Both characters meet at a time when they have experienced loss and betrayal, and watching them help each other heal from those painful experiences was something I greatly enjoyed.

This book gave me a princess who refused to back down and a supporting cast that complemented the story very well. It was a feel-good read that kept me entertained from beginning to end.
