Review: Chance by Brilee Scott

Review:

I did not expect the second book to hit as hard as the first one.
Tyler and Summer meet randomly in a store after not having seen each other for 11 years. It became instantly clear to me that there is history between these two. A lot of it. Surprise, attraction, confusion, and a whole lot of pain and anger are added to the mix. Whatever happened between them in the past clearly left a mark. If that is not complicated enough, Summer has a daughter, and her father does not know about her existence.

If that isn’t the start of a promising drama, then I don’t know what is. It became clear early on that multiple people would get hurt, and learning more and more about their past gave a better picture of why there is still such a strong connection between them every time they meet. It’s like a magnet’s pull they cannot avoid. Even with both willing to leave the past behind, it became clear very quickly that they both have such deep scars that they can hurt each other in a heartbeat. Tyler, especially, carries so much frustration and anger with him that I had tears in my eyes when he finally let it all out. The words coming out of him cut like a knife.

It became clear early on that both had to work through quite a lot to find a way back to each other, and the emotions felt raw and honest. I was completely here for it.
While this one could technically stand on its own legs, I appreciated the connection to the first one and how it was woven into the overall story and the caring bond those in the military and their families formed.
