This is one of those books that feels like a warm hug and makes everything feel just a little bit better 🙂

Dane found a new purpose in life by becoming a priest—and his challenging of the current bishop and his actions (especially financial ones) gets him sent away to take over a church elsewhere. On his way, he meets Madelyn, who helps him with trouble with his horse, and there is an instant connection. Her being married and him being a priest should keep them apart… but their pull toward each other is stronger.

The instant attraction and their longing for each other—while trying not to give in—came across so well. They tried, tried again, and failed constantly. This did not go unnoticed by those around them and came with its own challenges. As much as I wanted Dane to immediately leave his old life behind and follow his heart, I also understood that his role as a spokesperson for other priests—and his desire to make sure the current bishop is stopped—was also very important to him. His being constantly pulled in both directions was portrayed very well, and I understood why he made the choices he did. This is a love story about two people finding each other, but life gets in the way, and they both have to decide what matters most to them.
