Review Water and the Wild by L. C. Winters

This is the 3rd book in the series.

Synopsis:

In Ireland, folklore isn’t history. It’s unfinished business

When a man vanishes beneath a haunted lake, paranormal investigators Aisling and Elliot are drawn to a forgotten Irish village where obsession spreads like a curse.

The townspeople are changing.

Desire becomes fixation. Passion turns to madness.

And something ancient watches from beneath the water.

Bound by a dangerous fae curse that keeps them apart, Aisling and Elliot must uncover the truth before the town loses itself entirely—and before their own hearts betray them.

Because some monsters don’t kill.

They convince you to want your own destruction.

Review:

I was really looking forward to returning to Ireland and its mystical world. It took me some time to fully settle into this installment, partly because of the many different points of view. Some of them worked better for me than others.

I had hoped for more emotional tension and longing between Aisling and Elliot, and I was initially a little disappointed by how their relationship developed—at least until their journey became clearer. Even then, I found myself rooting for them and hoping they would make progress in solving the curse, though that ultimately wasn’t in the cards for them.

One of the highlights for me was how Ireland’s rich history was woven into the story as an essential element. While parts of the book felt a bit slow at times, I was still entertained overall and curious to see where the story will lead next.
