Review My Twelve-Year-Old Wife by Dan Uselton
Synopsis:

Dan Fox’s wife vanishes without a trace. No note. No sign of struggle. Just an empty bed and a haunting silence.

Then a twelve-year-old girl knocks on his door.

She knows things no one else could—secrets from their marriage, memories only Celia would have. She claims she’s his wife… from another timeline.

As Dan scrambles to understand the impossible, he’s thrust into a fractured reality where grief, time travel, and a masked predator intertwine. The girl insists they must work together to stop the man who’s hunted her across lifetimes—before he erases Celia for good.

But with every jump through time, the truth twists. Who is this girl really? And how far will Dan go to save a love that refuses to die—even when it returns in the wrong form?

Review:

Lately, I’ve really come to enjoy stories that play with time travel and alternate realities, so this book immediately caught my attention.

After finishing it, I felt that some of my expectations were met, while others fell a bit short. I liked the premise of Dan waking up to find his wife missing, and the sudden appearance of a teenager who remembers things only his wife would know had a lot of potential – it definitely pulled me in.

I appreciated the idea of the two of them always finding their way back to each other, trying to break the cycle they’re trapped in. Their growing awareness, shared decisions, and commitment to a common goal were some of the story’s stronger elements. However, the explanation behind why all of this is happening, and how certain pieces eventually fit together, felt less impactful to me. I wanted a stronger emotional connection – something that would make me feel the urgency and danger more intensely – but I never quite reached that point.

Overall, I enjoyed the read, but it won’t make my list of must‑read books, and I don’t feel compelled to continue with the second installment in the series.
