Review:

When the story begins, we are given a glimpse into a possible future, a future where vacations provide residents with a chance to unwind, though not in any way we might expect. In a world where resources have become scarce, crime has risen, and people search for new ways to maintain control, a troubling idea emerges.

What if a vacation allowed you to reduce stress, enjoy yourself, meet new people, yet end with only one survivor? Sounds exciting, right? Strangers can support you, vote for you, and the only path to survival is eliminating the competition.

What seems macabre and disturbing ultimately reflects a version of humanity that isn’t entirely unrealistic. When survival is at stake and an advantage can be gained, some people will take any opportunity presented to them – no matter the cost.

It’s a short story, but long enough to paint a picture of a possible future that may not be as far‑fetched as it first appears on the page.
