Synopsis:

Friendship is a liability.
As a warden, I was trained to hunt monsters, break curses, and survive without attachments. But when my only friend is taken by the Vampire Queen of Sutton Bay, I’m forced into an impossible choice: retrieve a cursed necklace—or watch her become a vampire.
The queen assigns me a partner I don’t want and can’t trust.
Faelen is a thief with a silver tongue, too many secrets, and a smile that never quite reaches his eyes. He’s also a werewolf—the very kind of monster I was trained to kill. Bound by a deadline and hunted by enemies who want us dead, we’re forced into close quarters, shared beds, and choices neither of us are prepared for.
He craves closeness.
I was trained to survive without it.
As our search drags us deeper into cursed magic, criminal guilds, and infernal bargains, the line between monster and man begins to blur. And the greatest danger isn’t the relic we’re chasing—it’s the heat building between us.
Because some monsters don’t want your blood.
They want your heart
.

Review The Warden's Pact Mark of the Wolf by Gemma Pettinato

Review:

It’s not the first book by the author I’m reading, so I had some understanding of what to expect.
This one comes with a lot of smut, and it is definitely a Romantasy / Dark Romance type of story. We get our two main characters, who feel an instant physical attraction and have a job that wouldn’t usually pair them up. Circumstances send them on a quest, and they cannot avoid getting close to each other.

I enjoyed the dialogue between them, which was snarky and full of sarcasm, and we also got to know them a bit more along with their backstories. They both have very different reasons for being where they are, and in the end, it comes down to looking out for someone. It’s a short one, so don’t expect to get too deep into things, and the resolution also happens rather quickly.

The author was still able to establish a connection, take me on a wild ride, and made me care about the main characters.
