📚 A woman getting out of a bad relationship, looki 📚 A woman getting out of a bad relationship, looking for a fresh start. It sounded very promising to me.🌙 Recension: Salt and Shadow: Legend of a Cursed Bloodline (Ancient Shadow #1) by Kate Beaumont📚 Genre: Romantasy📅 Release Date: August 11, 2026📗 available in physical📱 Read as: Kindle💸 Bought📆 Pages: 412⭐️ 3/5Review:The premise of this book sounded so good and was the reason I wanted to read it.We started out strong. Naomi has finally escaped her abusive relationship, which had left her cut off from her friends and controlled by her partner for a long time. She is looking for a fresh start and finds a place where she can rest and think about her future. While there, she makes friends and meets a handsome stranger. That part of the story worked well for me. After being broken down for such a long time, seeing her rebuild herself bit by bit, rather than magically having everything be perfect overnight, was well done. I also appreciated that she didn't want to rush into another relationship and chose to take things slowly on the physical side of things. That felt realistic given her situation. While I liked how considerate he was at times, some of his protective behaviour came across as a red flag to me.Adding some complexity through the way this world treats people from other areas provided useful background information, but it felt a little misplaced at times (why did a situation suddenly escalate like this). This book also incorporates more elements of the modern world, which I was very unsure about. I found myself wondering multiple times what time period or version of the world the story was actually set in.Overall, it was an okay read for me. I had high expectations, but in the end, it just wasn't quite for me.
📚 A crime thriller series? Tell me more. 🌙 Recens 📚 A crime thriller series? Tell me more.🌙 Recension: Fatal Invitation (KC & Orlando Prime series #1) by S.F. Baumgartner📚 Genre: Mystery, Crime, Thriller📅 Release Date: December 8, 2025📗 available in various formats – included in Kindle Unlimited📱 Read as: Kindle💸 Bought📆 Pages: 468⭐️ 3/5Review:Give me a serial killer story, a gruesome crime, and some detectives, and I’m usually on board immediately. This one had the potential to be a good start to a series that could be right up my alley. While it succeeded in some aspects, it lacked in others. The murder investigation was the part I enjoyed the most. I liked how everything came together and how the puzzle pieces gradually fell into place. I also wouldn’t rule out that parts of it were inspired by things that are actually happening in reality. Did it become a bit too much in a short amount of time, and did it all come together a little too neatly? Yes, but I didn’t really mind. The main thing I was hoping for was a stronger connection to the characters, their personal motivations, and their backgrounds. This was the part that didn’t quite work for me. I simply didn’t feel connected to them and kept hoping something would click, which sadly never happened. Yes, I got small glimpses into their lives, but the overall interactions weren’t enough to make me instantly fall in love with them. It did give me enough, though, to make me interested in continuing with the next instalment.
📚 What if the portal you opened brings you to a fo 📚 What if the portal you opened brings you to a forbidden realm noone is supposed to access anymore?🌙 Recension: The Unwritten Heir (Fated Legacies #1) by Cosette Verga📚 Genre: Romantasy📅 Release Date: February 1, 2026📗 available in various formats – included in Kindle Unlimited📱 Read as: Kindle💸 I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.📆 Pages: 590⭐️ 3.5/5Review:As someone who read the first book in the main series, I had some idea of what to expect. Having modern technology in a fantasy world, for example, felt a bit weird to me, but I accepted it 🙂Riven lost her best friend in an accident a year ago, and she cannot get over it. When she tries to reach out to her, she accidentally opens a portal, and she and her cousins end up somewhere unexpected, where they are not met in the friendliest way. Unable to return to their home world, they have to adapt to the circumstances and learn a lot about the past and how everything is connected to the events that came before. Along the way, she slowly starts to warm up to the handsome king. The world-building is not overly complex, and if that is what you are looking for, this one might not be for you. If you want something easy to understand that adds a bit of background here and there, this is more what you’ll get. You’ll find an entertaining story, a prophecy, and two characters who initially dislike each other but gradually learn to trust one another as they work toward a common goal. The short sentence structure is somewhat unusual, which might not be everybody’s cup of tea, though.
📚 Are you a fan of small town romance? This one co 📚 Are you a fan of small town romance? This one comes with a sports team and adds something special by highlighting a disability.🌙 Recension: The Game Changer (The Cedar Creek Thunder #1) by Julia Jarrett📚 Genre: Romance📅 Release Date: February 10, 2026👤 Narrator: Heather Firth, Connor Crais📗 available in various formats – included in Kindle Unlimited📱 Read as: Audiobook💸 I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.🗣️ Language: English📆 Pages / Listening Length: 8h 53min⭐️ 3.5/5Review:I appreciate it when a book tries to add more to the story by making me aware of topics that I hadn’t had on my radar before. Especially when it comes to disabilities (especially this one), I give credit to the author for including this theme throughout the book and not simply glossing over it. It has an impact on the characters and shapes how they interact with others and how they perform simple, everyday tasks.Independent of this, we have some well-known elements of a small-town romance story. Isla is looking for a fresh start and takes over the marketing for a local sports team. When she meets Luca, it quickly becomes obvious that both of them feel drawn to each other. With him being her boss and their dynamic presenting some unique challenges, they try to make it work. Some things felt a bit too easy and were glossed over, while others were made a bit more complicated than they needed to be. That could, of course, just be my personal opinion.I always respect the narrators of these books, especially when they include quite a few spicy scenes. There were a few too many for my liking, particularly in the last third of the book, but overall, I was okay with it.The audio wasn’t 100% balanced throughout the book. The male narrator occasionally felt a bit quieter than the female narrator, but that didn’t take away from what was, overall, an enjoyable listening experience for me.
