The first month of the year 2026 was a successful The first month of the year 2026 was a successful month. The first week I was still on vacation, which contributed a bit to this. I had (again) a mixture of longer and shorter ones. Overall, a balanced reading month. I’m also trying to focus a bit more on working at my physical TBR.I was able to finish 30 books and 3 Audiobooks. My favorites of the month:🏆The Mochi Promise by R J GreytaThis one was different compared to what I usually read. It is heartwarming and the conenction between the 2 main characters is something really special.🏆People We Meet on Vacation by Emily HenryWith the movie adoption coming out at the beginning of the month, I wanted to prepare and I fell in love with both 🙂 🏆Between the Lines by Tracey Magruder A slow-burn that delivers. We have characters that get to know each other first and than descide to take the next step. 🏆An Imperfect Life by Karen Jasper On paper this does not sound like the most interesting book (we follow a family through different generations) – the execution though was simply amazing. An ARCthat I loved so much, that I immediately got the physical one to have it on my shelf.📖 Pages: 10.501 + Audiobooks = 31h 53minHow many did you read and what was your favorite?#monthlyreads
📚 A well rounded story, full of heart. Available t 📚 A well rounded story, full of heart. Available today.Review:When we first meet Lily, she is truly happy. We get a glimpse of her warm, peaceful life, but there’s already a quiet feeling that something will soon break that calm. And later, that feeling becomes real. On the outside, Lily seems to have rebuilt a good life for herself and her family. She looks steady, even content, but you can still feel the pain she carries. Her loss hasn’t disappeared; it sits under the surface of everything she does. Then Aodhan enters the story. From the moment he appears, I was rooting for him. He’s a mysterious stranger searching for something, yet he also feels a strong pull towards Lily that he can’t explain. He shows up again and again, always gentle, never pushing too far. He becomes a steady, quiet presence, especially when she needs someone the most. The first two thirds of the book are very character‑driven. The focus is on Lily, her family, and the slow, meaningful connection that grows between her and Aodhan. Small hints appear along the way, showing that this isn’t just a normal love story. There is something deeper tying them together, something that suggests they were meant to meet long ago, but someone interfered and kept them apart, changing their destinies. The danger builds slowly in the background. Then, in the final third, the tone shifts. Suddenly, the threat becomes real, and their new happiness feels fragile and short‑lived. The stakes rise, and I was completely pulled in.For a debut novel, I have to praise the author. The story feels well rounded and full of heart. It isn’t perfect, but it comes very close. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.🌙 Recension:Of Earth and Gold (Fae Sceptre Saga #1) by Shona Barton📚 Genre: Romance & Fantasy📅 Release Date: February 4, 2026📗 included in Kindle Unlimited📱 Read as: Kindle💸 I received a free copy of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.🗣️ Language: English📆 Pages: 521⭐️ 4.5/5
📚 Not everything needs to be a masterpiece to be e 📚 Not everything needs to be a masterpiece to be entertaining.Review:We start out story right off with the main event. A murder that will impact everyone for years to come and will boil over once the group is reunited years later. That sounds like a good start to a story. With it being a Mystery Thriller, I’d lean more into the Mystery part of it. For a Thriller it felt a bit too soft for my liking. Why you would hold a reception at the place where a former friend of you died? Sounded weird to me in the beginning but understanding the characters a bit more helped to show, that it was more about control and being superior. The group of friends could not have been more different, and it showed. They all contributed to the situation, and we learn it along with them.Did some of the connections and intertwined stories feel a bit lacklustre? Yes. It kept me entertained. Overall, if you enjoy a murder mystery (in the style of *who has done it*) you’ll get a less intense version of it. Interesting enough to keep you guessing, but relatively easy to follow along with some finding being more surprising compared to others.🌙 Recension: We Were Never Friends by Kaira Rouda📚 Genre: Mystery, Fiction📅 Release Date: February 3, 2026📖 Publisher: Poisoned Pen Press📱 Read as: Kindle📗 available in various formats💸 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.🗣️ Language: English📆 Pages: 272⭐️ 3/5#wewereneverfriends
