Review:

The premise sounded very interesting. We have two opposing sides that were once united, but when they began vying for power, a rift was created, bringing monsters with it (at least, that’s what everyone believes happened). The frequency of these monster appearances is increasing.
On one side, we have Lora from the Moon Kingdom, who is a monster hunter.
Then we have Zai, a prince from the Sun Kingdom.
Each side comes with unique powers tied to their kingdom. When Lora meets a stranger one day who doesn’t remember where he came from and seems to possess powers from both kingdoms, it marks the beginning of an interesting journey.

I love a good setup, and this book handled that part very well. Introducing a character with memory loss was a great way to introduce us to the world and the situation at hand. It gave me the opportunity to slowly learn about the history alongside the character. As he gradually regains his memories, Lora is sent on a mission that leads her to cross paths with Zai, and their first interaction was charged 🙂
They both felt a strong physical connection to each other and were unable to forget one another. Both are interested in the mysterious stranger, but they have different goals in mind that do not align.

This is also a story that gives us two characters who grew up after losing someone dear to them. They both feel responsible for what happened, but they deal with that guilt in different ways. By the end of the book, the stage is set for both of them and for what’s to come. With this being a duology, I’m looking forward to seeing how their story unfolds.
