Review:
I enjoyed the first book in the series a lot, and going into the second book, I had high expectations. Am I glad it turned out to be even better.
Having already met Rebecca and Carter in the first book, I knew their relationship was loaded. It felt like a ticking time bomb that was constantly on the brink of going off, and this instalment built perfectly on what I had seen before. Every interaction between these two was intense, and I desperately wanted to know what had led to this palpable tension. I was not prepared for the answer.
The connection and chemistry between them practically leapt off the pages and kept me on edge the entire time. The constant back-and-forth between them as they chased each other from country to country and location to location was so much fun to read.
While the romance was always present in the background, the story felt more like an action-packed adventure, and I was happy to go along for the ride. Characters from the previous book added context and depth, making the story feel well-rounded. It was such a pleasure to return to this world and join them on their journey.
