Synopsis:
When a local journalist goes missing after attending a writers’ conference, Eden is thrust into a twisted web of deceit and danger. The journalist had been investigating rumors of crimes committed by the conference organizers. As Eden delves deeper, she uncovers disturbing connections between the missing woman and the literary world, leading her down a path darker than she could have imagined.
The case takes a sinister turn when Eden discovers a pattern of secrets and lies spanning years. Each revelation brings her closer to a horrifying truth hidden in a remote cabin. As the stakes escalate and the clues point back to Eden’s own haunted past, she realizes that solving this case means confronting her deepest fears. Failure could mean more lives lost and the continuation of a violent cycle that hits too close to home.
With time running out, Eden must navigate a labyrinth of deception, literary intrigue, and lethal obsession to save the latest victim and stop a killer.

Review:
When a reporter goes missing after visiting a writers’ conference, it immediately raises the question of whether there’s more going on than meets the eye. Was she really there to help out her writer friend, or did she have an ulterior motive?
The third instalment in the series moved away from the storytelling taking place across two time periods. We only have the current timeline, which felt different compared to the previous books, but that didn’t make it any less captivating. Learning what happened and watching Eden grow more and more into the role of detective was one of the highlights for me. She is very smart, and her insights are invaluable in uncovering what really happened. While I wasn’t 100% on board with the final conclusion, I enjoyed it nonetheless, and the narrator does a really good job of bringing the story to life beyond the pages.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the story continues and can’t wait to get to the remaining books in the series. Luckily, I still have plenty to look forward to.
