Review:

As someone who read the first book in the main series, I had some idea of what to expect. Having modern technology in a fantasy world, for example, felt a bit weird to me, but I accepted it 🙂

Riven lost her best friend in an accident a year ago, and she cannot get over it. When she tries to reach out to her, she accidentally opens a portal, and she and her cousins end up somewhere unexpected, where they are not met in the friendliest way. Unable to return to their home world, they have to adapt to the circumstances and learn a lot about the past and how everything is connected to the events that came before. Along the way, she slowly starts to warm up to the handsome king.

The world-building is not overly complex, and if that is what you are looking for, this one might not be for you. If you want something easy to understand that adds a bit of background here and there, this is more what you’ll get. You’ll find an entertaining story, a prophecy, and two characters who initially dislike each other but gradually learn to trust one another as they work toward a common goal.
The short sentence structure is somewhat unusual, which might not be everybody’s cup of tea, though.
