Synopsis:

Review:

If you prefer your books to come with easy-to-understand world-building, not too many characters and a lot of complexity, this one will absolutely be for you.
The beginning clearly shows where we came from and where we are today. It’s easy to grasp and sets the tone for what’s to come. We meet our princess, who clearly seems to have a rebellious streak and isn’t very happy about her father trying to marry her off. When she is kidnapped by a handsome stranger, she is strangely drawn to him and not that eager to get back home (interestingly 🙂 ). Learning that what history told her about the past, dragons, and magic isn’t actually correct forces her to adapt to the situation and find her way.

The story itself remains rather simple throughout the book. Things happen a bit too easily, and I was missing a little more nuance here and there. It feels a bit entry-level fantasy (and more about the romance part) to me, which isn’t a bad thing. Accepting that some things feel glossed over and that you have to take them at face value, without learning how or why they came to be, was fine in some situations. In others, however, it left me wanting more and made it harder to feel connected to the characters.
Overall, it’s an entertaining and fast read that didn’t require too much attention to detail on my part.
