This is the second book in the series:
- Book #1- Deadly Sanctuary
Synopsis:
The past is coming back from the dead to confront her…
FBI Agent Cassidy Knox thought she’d get a fresh start at the animal sanctuary she inherited in the Florida Everglades. One filled more with the romance of a budding relationship than the horrors of her career. But she was wrong.
After she’s woken in the dead of night by a terrifying home invasion, she finds herself thrust back into a nightmare when she realizes that the intruders were there for something specific… and whatever it was, she forced them to leave without it. Desperate to figure out what they were after before they return, her search for answers finds her forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy linked to her family—one with truths that change everything she thought she knew about her past.
When her childhood sweetheart mysteriously goes missing, Cassidy finds herself drawn even deeper into a treacherous labyrinth of lies, alone in a game of survival. With trust a luxury she can’t afford, she doesn’t know who to turn to, only that the wrong decision could be her last. Torn between her instincts and growing paranoia, she races against time to save everything she holds dear, but will she be able to unravel the deadly web of deception before more lives are lost? Or will she fall victim to a fatal betrayal?

Review:
After finishing the first book, I jumped straight into this one. While I enjoyed the first installment just a little bit more, I still had a lot of fun with this one.
You might think that after everything Cassidy went through in the first book, she would finally get a chance to rest and recover, but that clearly wasn’t in the cards for her. When she is attacked in her own home and it doesn’t feel random, she starts looking for answers. Unfortunately, the local sheriff brushes off her concerns. As the people around her are put in danger, the stakes rise, and Cassidy is forced to piece the puzzle together on her own.
I really appreciated how persistent and logical she is in her approach. I trust her instincts, and as she slowly connects the dots, her troubled past comes even more into focus. Discovering what truly happened to her parents becomes deeply personal, and puts her life in constant danger.
It was a wild ride, and I was fully on board. While there were a few elements I didn’t enjoy quite as much as in the first book, overall this was another very entertaining read.
