Review:
I had been looking forward to this book, and reaching the final installment of a series always feels bittersweet. It’s sad to say goodbye to characters you’ve spent so much time with, yet also deeply satisfying to see their journey through and hope they finally reach a place where they can rest.
At the end of the previous book, everyone was preparing for the decisive battles ahead. The uncertainty was palpable, and the enemy felt almost unbeatable. The stark contrast between the small group ready to face the threat and the overwhelming numbers on the opposing side made it clear that not everyone would make it through. Kael was still struggling with the weight of his new role, and it showed. He nearly made a selfish choice without considering how it would affect Lyra, creating a brief rift between them at a time when unity was crucial. In the end, though, they, and everyone around them, came together, ready to sacrifice everything for the greater good and a better future.
Did we get a satisfying ending? Yes. There were some genuinely tense moments, but there were also scenes where resolutions came a bit too quickly or easily. Given the limited number of pages left to wrap everything up, I understand why, but a little more breathing room would have added depth. Overall, I truly enjoyed the series. While each book had a clear focus, I do think the story could have benefited from fleshing out the world and giving more background to characters beyond just the FMC and MMC. Even so, the author’s writing style resonated with me, and I’m excited to read more of their work.
If you’re looking for a fantasy series that entertains, offers meaningful character growth, and centers its romance on emotional development rather than physical intensity, this one is a great choice. I certainly enjoyed it.
