This is the second book in the The Shadowfen Chronicles.
Synopsis:
Love is a weapon. Power is the price.
Kara Hathorn never asked to be the Seer’s chosen weapon, but fate doesn’t care what she wants. Shadowfen is on the edge of war—Felipe, an ancient vampire with a god complex and a thirst for destruction, is building an army of feral fledglings, and the fragile peace between shifters, witches, Fae, and vampires is shattering. The only one strong enough to stop him… is Kara.
But power always demands something in return.
The more Kara learns about her father’s forbidden magic, the more dangerous her gifts become—volatile, untamed, and laced with darkness.
Then there’s them.
Derick—the fierce, possessive Shifter King who burns hotter than wildfire.
Cam—the dangerously alluring Vampire Ruler who knows every sin she craves.
Two rulers bound by rivalry, both drawn to her. One witch caught between desire and destiny.
As Shadowfen descends into chaos, Kara will have to master her magic, outwit an ancient evil, and risk her heart in a world where love cuts as deep as any blade.
In a realm ruled by monsters, she might be the most dangerous of them all.

Review:
I adored the first book in the series and had high hopes for the second, and after devouring it in one sitting, I’m delighted to say it did not disappoint.
Kara remains one of my favourite female leads. She struggles to control her powers while bearing the weight of everyone’s expectations, a burden that leaves her stressed and conflicted. Her journey is about more than mastering magic; it’s about finding her voice and proving she’s a valuable team member beyond her abilities. That frustration is palpable, and when her loved ones are threatened, Kara steps up, risking everything.
Through these battles and preparation, she learns to balance who she is with who she’s expected to be, and her growth shines through her interactions.
This isn’t a book with an intricate magic system or extensive backstory. Instead, it offers a compelling character arc, a FMC struggling with newfound powers and a dangerous reality where she’s hunted. Add two intriguing male leads, and the stakes become even higher. It’s fast-paced, engaging, and I loved every moment.
