Synopsis:

My name is Kara Hathorn, and I’m a witch—not the broomstick kind, but the real-deal, spell-slinging, sneaker-wearing kind. I had graduate from college, join the family Spell-casting business, and maybe not blow anything up in the process.
Then came an invitation that turned my world inside out.A notorious seer with a twisted sense of humor and a penchant for cryptic riddles claims that I’m the only thing standing between our world and an ancient vampire hell-bent on turning it all to ash.

Now, my magic’s changing—growing wild, unstable… dangerous. And when I need to focus, two powerful (and infuriatingly irresistible) Rulers step into my one a brooding vampire with secrets carved into his soul, the other a dangerously charming shifter who smells like trouble and tastes like temptation.

They both want me. The seer seeks to control me. And the ancient vampire? He wants me dead—or worse, on his side.

The world is unraveling. My powers are awakening. And I’m caught in a prophecy that feels more like a trap. I thought I knew who I was… but this journey is about to test every limit I have.

Am I ready for the danger? Hell yes.
Can I handle falling for two ruthless supernatural alphas? That’s… complicated.
Is this going to end in disaster? Absolutely.
One wrong move, and it’s not just my life on the line—it’s everyone I’ve ever loved.

Magic. Mayhem. Men who bite. Welcome to the competition of my life.

Review:

I did not expect to find the gem so close to the end of the year.

If you want a complex magic system and character development, this one won’t be for you. If you are looking for something that is rather easy to understand, uses existing concepts (shifters, Vampires, fae and witches) this one is for you (and obviously for me 🙂 )

In the beginning we got an easy-to-understand introduction to the world (supernatural world existing hidden next to the human one) and our main character Kara. She is a witch from a respected line and tries to do her best (as a shorty) at the academy with the support of her best friend (who is a fae). I enjoyed the friendship portion a lot and it was clear from the beginning, that it was an important part of Kara.

One day the ruler of the shifters shows up at the academy and invites her to a club. What was supposed to be a fun night out, becomes the start of a different future for Kara. Thrown into the mix are a sex vampire and werewolf, that both seem to have an interest in her.

The banter and dialogue were a highlight for me. It made me smile so much and the story was so much fun to follow along. It was clear that book one was setting up the stage for what’s to come and I cannot wait to return to the world in the future.
