Review:
Compared to the first book, this one suffered a bit from second book syndrome. While we had a lot of different locations, our group constantly splitting up and re-grouping, them moving from one location to another, overall, the plot did not move forward a lot. We had some big reveals, some new characters joining / interacting with our group and an event, that will change the dynamic going forward.
The romance part is still present but takes a slight step back and we mainly must see how our group constantly lying to each other and holding things back, is influencing the dynamic. They want / must work together, but betrayal is always at the forefront of every interaction.
The writing style remains rather simple, and you don’t have to invest too much brain power in understanding the world we’re in, which this time I noticed a lot compared to the first one in the series.
Did I still enjoy it? Yes. I am hoping that the third book will pick up a bit in the action and makes it feel like our group will start trusting each other again to complete the mission.
