I’ve read a lot of books this year and limiting it down to my Top 5 books was not easy. Not all of them got the highest rating either. I based my descision mainly on following criteria:
- how easy was into get into it
- could it hold my attention
- did it leave an impression
- do I want to read more from the reader
There are a few more books that would fit this criteria also, but I gave myself a number of 5 books to put on this list. Noone else to blame but me 🙂 Once I had my final list, I also descided that I’d like to have a physical copy of these on my shelf. So I went ahead and ordered the ones to show my support for the author. If they made to my list, owning real estate on my shelf is well deserved.

In no particular order, these are the 5 books:
- The Barracks of Forgotten Pages by Sophie Dane
This one had me imagine a TV Series or Movie instantly with the characters. It combines riddles, spies, and mystery. The characters were likeable, and I wanted the story to continue. - Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
It took me a bit to get into the story. Once I connected to it, I fell in love with Eleanor and wanted to give her endless hugs. A story about finding yourself and the impact people can have on your life. This one got me in the end, and I shed a few tears along the way. - Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
When everyone and their mother started talking about this book, I got it also. Initially on Kindle – I did not like the European cover for the paperback. When I saw the US version, I had to get it and after a few pages I immediately knew, that I had a winner in my hand. - Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I saw the movie trailer first but forgot about it. In the following weeks I saw this being mentioned more often, so I bought the Kindle version. After another few weeks (still on my TBR) I noticed others mentioning the Audiobook being amazing. So, I decided to buy the Audiobook also and fell in love with it. I also have a crush on the voice of Ray Porter now. To complete the triage of doom, I also decided to buy the Paperback. I am very committed to this one 🙂 - Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
Another one I was made aware of by others. It got added to my holiday reading list and I read it during a travel day between locations. I was hooked after a few pages and fell in love with Jet.
Looking back at my reading year 2025, I am very happy with the result. The growth of my TBR and unfinished series is a different topic though 🙂
