Here we are again. Me looking at my shelves / the books I read recently, to decide if I want to continue giving them real estate. Going forward these will happen on a regular basis. I want to ensure that the books that remain on my shelve for a long time, will fulfil these criteria’s:
- I would want to re-read again
- I would propose to friends of mine to read
- bring me joy each time I look at them
Does every book need to be a masterpiece? Absolutely not, but I want to enjoy having it permanently (opinions could still change in the coming years) in my little corner of the world. Completing series and re-reading the already available ones, will also help me to form a better opinion. Re-reading a book an enjoyed years ago could end up being unhauled this time around (as it is happening this time). With that being said, let’s look at the stack of book that left me this time, looking for a new home.

- Tim Severin – Saxon, The Book of Dreams
I got this one a while ago in a public library and after looking at it again and seeing all the unread books on my TBR, I decided to bring it back. Maybe someone else will enjoy it. - Elizabeth George – a banquet of consequences
Another public library book, that I’ll bring back. - Suzanne Brockmann – The Defiant Hero
The last one that I originally took home from a public library and will return it. - Stephanie Garner – The Caraval Series Box Set
A long time ago I read the first 3 books and enjoyed them. Rhen the Holiday Novel got released, I took the opportunity to re-read the series back-to-back. The fact that it shows up in an unhaul is probably saying enough. I got worth book after book and the last one was just bad. If you enjoy the series, that is fine. We all have different tastes, and it could also be, that I simply became too old to enjoy certain YA books. - Lee Child – Trouble
This is the 11th book in the series and with me buying every other book as a paperback and the English version, it did not make sense to have the odd one in there as a German Hardcover. - Bethany Atazadem – The Stolen Kingdom Series
I enjoyed the series when reading it last year and gave it 4 Stars (if I’m not mistaken). It is also one that I would not re-read again and staying true to my original statement, someone else will probably enjoy it more than I do.
I usually try selling the books to a reseller first to get credit for buying new books and I don’t have to spend *new* money to complete series for example. Occasionally, I’d like to re-read a series in physical form, that I enjoyed as a Kindle and want to know if I prefer it in physical form.
How often do you go through your shelves? Why do you unhaul a book?
