I’m continuing with the series by listening to the Audiobook. Consider me still hooked. Ray Porter (the Narrator) is doing an amazing job. I’m already looking forward to start the next one in the series. If you are interested in my Review of the prior titles, you can find them here:

Synopsis

It’s been 20 years since 9/11. Two decades since the United States was attacked on home soil and embarked on 20 years of war. The enemy has been patient, learning, and adapting. And the enemy is ready to strike again.

A new president offers hope to a country weary of conflict. He’s a young, popular, self-made visionary…but he’s also a man with a secret.

Halfway across the globe a regional superpower struggles with sanctions imposed by the Great Satan and her European allies, a country whose ancient religion spawned a group of ruthless assassins. Faced with internal dissent and extrajudicial targeted killings by the United States and Israel, the Supreme Leader puts a plan in motion to defeat the most powerful nation on earth.

Meanwhile, in a classified facility five stories underground, a young PhD student has gained access to a level of bioweapons known only to a select number of officials. A second-generation agent, he has been assigned a mission that will bring his adopted homeland to its knees.

Review:

This one hit me differently.

9/11 is still on everyone’s mind and how far enemies will go to attack. How afraid everyone one is of the next viral outbreak is also very present.

The enemy has learned how the Americans react in case of an attack. They had year of watching how they react to threads against them. What if in the background the enemy worked on a different approach? Biological weapons are more effective and since Covid we are all too aware what happens if an outbreak happens.

When a dangerous virus is entering the country and released in strategic cities, the fear level goes up immediately. This is exactly what the enemy is counting on. And they know what the government will do if pushed hard. So, they plant the seed and wait.

And along comes Reese to sort it all out. He always makes me ask myself of people like him are out there and if it is better for me not to know or ignore that they (might) exist.

I always appreciate Jack Carr challenging my brain. He is amazing at presenting a situation that makes me think. A Lot. Making me aware of these situations basically lurking is frightening. I’m not ignorant about these things but I still hope that it won’t come to this.

It made me feel uncomfortable, but in a good way.
