Review: The Secret Chord by Kathryn Guare

Review

I enjoyed the first book in the series a lot and was looking forward to the second one.
In the beginning of the book, we meet Conor, who wants to leave the past month behind him and find a quite place where he can spend some time and help on the farm. When he arrives, he meets Kate and it clear from the beginning, that these two will become more than friends. There friendship evolves and Connor makes friends. Obviously, it couldn’t stay like this forever. He is confronted with his past, which he wanted to leave behind. It gets more complex when Kate seems to be involved.

I also enjoyed his prior teammates showing up, which resulted in a lot of situations that got me hooked. The interactions between the characters had it moments here and there, which fit the situation very well. Picking up on prior story lines is always a plus for me.

Did it sound a bit to easy to have her fit into the story that easily? Yes. Did I enjoy it anyway? Absolutely. I enjoyed Conor as much as in the first book. Complex characters, a complex villain, and a lot of supporting characters to keep it interesting.

I personally think this would make a good TV Series. One more book to go in the series. Looking forward to it.
