Synopsis

In seven days Jet Mason will be dead.
I’ll do it later, she always says. She has time.
Until Halloween night, when Jet is violently attacked by an unseen intruder.
She suffers a catastrophic head injury. The doctor is certain that within a week, the injury will trigger a deadly aneurysm.
Jet has never thought of herself as having enemies. But now she looks at everyone in a new light: her family, her former best friend turned sister-in-law, her ex-boyfriend.
She has at most seven days, and as her condition deteriorates she has only her childhood friend Billy for help.
Jet is going to solve her own murder.

Review

I haven’t read a lot of Holly Jackson prior. When it was mentioned by a lot of people as being an anticipated adult launch by the author I jumped on board and got it also.

I was hooked after the first few pages. The premises of having a very limited duration for the story to take place usually avoids *boring* elements and comes with a faster pace. I felt with Jet immediately and was fully on board in her quest to find out what happened. Joking about dying and being on a tight deadline might sound weird but it added to me identifying with the end goal. The tragic ending is known, and I wanted to know who is to blame alongside Jet and Billys hunt for answers. Jet didn’t take no for an answer and the more she found out, the more complex it got.

I finished the book in one day and couldn’t put it down. I felt very entertained and at the end it brought up the question: If you would have gotten a chance to do things differently, what would it be?
